Most people associate a midwife as someone who helps a woman during delivery. What a lot of people do not know is that a midwife is very much involved in a lot of issues before delivery. They play a very important role that shouldn’t be overlooked. So in this article we are going to learn what some of these things are that they accomplish prior to delivery.

Some of the things you look for are the health of the mother. This is important not only for the mother but it will help determine if using a midwife would be wise. Because if they find out that there might be a complication during delivery, they may rule out the possibility of a home delivery. In other words if the woman’s health has problems that woman could be referred to a doctor.  This has comforted many women in my homebirth midwives San Diego services knowing if they could have complications or not.

The next significant thing they will look into is the prenatal care for the health of the baby. A midwife will have access to all the tools needed to make sure that the baby is growing fine indeed. They will be able to tell if the heartbeat is fine. They will be able to find out and learn if there are other issues to be worried about.  This is a big benefit women look for in my homebirth San Diego practice.

Last but not least, a midwife can help throughout the pregnancy period to monitor the health of both the baby and the mother. Obviously things can change during a pregnancy so regular visits will help monitor. These regular maintenance will help determine if anything unusual came up that needs some attention. This is very important to many women I see in my San Diego home birth practice.

So as you have read, even if you have utilized a midwife, it doesn’t mean that the regular care is not present. As a matter of fact, the level of care you may get from a midwife could overshadow everything else.

Giving birth using a midwife: Some criticisms

People basically think of hospitals and doctors when they think of having a baby delivered.  But there is a growing movement of women who are wanting to go more natural. There are some women who are actually foregoing the medication during delivery in order to have a more natural mode or nature child birth. Part of that movement of going natural is using a midwife to deliver a baby.  There are many advantages to this that we are going to look at in this article.

Some people, first and foremost, think using a midwife to deliver a baby is not safe. They think that the safest practice is having a baby with a doctor, since they have all the medical equipment needed. But this actually a false or invalid issue since most deliveries done by a midwife are only done with safe pregnancies.  In other words if there is any history of complications it will not be performed with a midwife.  Other then that as a San Diego midwife I know first hand midwives know what to do in medical emergencies.

Midwives will not be using any medication that women need, that is actually another common criticism.Because women do not actually need to have drugs for delivery that is why the premise is false. The major reason why most pregnancies take so long, as a matter of fact, are drugs.  The drugs cause the birth to stop because it is disrupting the natural delivery. I have seen first hand as a homebirth midwife San Diego how much faster natural deliveries are.So medication is definitely no longer needed and it only hinders the delivery.

Another criticism is that midwives are not doctors. It does not actually mean that they don’t know what to do medically, while that is true. All midwives definitely have to go through a very difficult licensing and certification process.  This process teaches them what medical procedures may need to be performed in certain situations.  As a certified midwives San Diego practicioner I know first hand that midwives are prepared for emergencies.

As you can see, having a baby with a midwife definitely has more benefits than with those people would have you to believe. It helps you to have a faster delivery than with medications and is definitely safer.

Options For Having A Home Birth

Delivering a baby is definitely a wonderful experience. Although it is indeed wonderful, but there are still many pains and stresses that come with delivering a baby. Simply because of that most of the babies are usually delivered in the hospital. But there is absolutely a growing movement of women having babies at home. And contrary to popular opinion, it is definitely safer than most people would ever imagine. So in this article we are going to look at delivering your baby at home.

First of all when a woman chooses to have a baby at home it is usually performed by a midwife. Midwives are women who assist in delivering the baby. Much like a doctor’s role except in the big fact that they really stress the importance of delivering the baby in a natural way. That is one of the main reasons women come to me in my home birth midwives services. They absolutely need to have a baby without using drugs during delivery.

Now the common thought is that most women always use drugs during the delivery of the baby to ease the pain. But in reality what most women don’t realize is that using drugs slow down the birth process. And a lot of times it even makes it harder to deliver the baby.

While a home birth sometimes simply uses the known option of delivering in water in order to make the transition for the baby. This method or process of child delivery is called a water birth. That is one of the big ways to deliver in my home birth services.

Finally most people has the belief that it isn’t safe to deliver a baby at home basically because there isn’t a doctor present. But that is actually not the case. Most of the women who do real midwifery are of course medically trained and understand what are the things to do in an emergency. Most are licensed like the women in my home birth service. This licensing requires a board to oversee their work and knowledge.

So hopefully you can see that having a baby at home isn’t as dangerous as people think. If you are pregnant it is basically an option that might be wonderful for you.

How safe is it to use a midwife while giving birth

Midwifery is one of the most misundertood professions in the world. Sure they aren’t as common as they used to be but there are still some around.  If you don’t know a midwife is one who assists a woman during delivery. The practice is usually questioned by a lot of people about its safety because these midwives are usually not nurses or doctors.  Mostly because the midwife we are talking about are the ones who perform home births.  So we are going to look and see if it is really safe to use a midwife in a home birth.

First of all midwives usually help woman who want to try and deliver naturally without any drugs.  At least that is my experience running a San Diego midwife service.  Plus it is usually done in a home. That would be the reasons why most people are sceptical about its safety. What they perceive as a safe way of delivering a baby is through the use of drugs. But that would not be the case all the time.

In fact, these drugs can even slow down the delivery of the baby and can also cause some complications. When a midwife does a home birth naturally at home without using drugs it actually speeds up delivery and also recovery from the delivery.  That has been the case so many times in my homebirth midwife San Diego service. Most mothers who went natural experienced faster recovery.

Finally what people don’t realize is that most natural home births are recommended only for healthy women.  In other words if the woman has a history of medical problems or birthing problems I won’t take them.  Generally the women I do assist in my certified midwives San Diego practice are women who have had no history of complications.Once I learn that the mother has medical problems then I would tell them to deliver the baby in the hospital instead.

So hopefully you see that precautions are taken to make sure the mother and child are safe. That is the reason why homebirthing and midwifery is still safe.

Is home birthing a good method to deliver a baby

One way of giving birth to a baby is by hiring a midwife. They may not be a nurse or a doctor but a midwife is also a licensed professional. What they generally do is assist pregnant women give birth naturally.  Many times the delivery is done at home.Since the deliveries are mostly done at homes and there are no doctors or nurses to assist the delivery a lot of people doubt the safety of this method.  This article will look and see if it is safe to use a midwife.

First of all as a San Diego midwife this allows me to answer these questions with knowledge.  The main thing people are concerned about is safety.Well you might be surprised but midwives are also trained to handle emergencies during the delivery of the babies.  Generally the things that may occur during delivery a midwife is equipped to handle.

The fact that this method is usually done at homes is another concern for most people. What they are worrying about is that they assume that there is no sufficient tools for emergencies and there are no doctors.  But in general in my homebirth midwife San Diego service I only take women who are healthy.  In other words if there are concerns medically I will let them deliver in a hospital.Or if they had some issues regarding the delivery of babies before then I would also recommend them to go to the hospital.

A midwife does have the training and possess necesssary medical equipments for emergencies. But usually because of the natural birth process you would be surprised to know there aren’t many complications. That is the general experience of my certified midwives San Diego service. Most complications are caused by the drugs administered during the delivery. And these complications would be lessened if the delivery is done the natural way.

So hopefully you would see that this method of delivery is a safe way to go deliver a baby.So if you are planning to go natural you must learn more about it.You will be amazed at all the benefits it can give the baby and the mother. You will learn that this method can give more benefits than risks.

Role of midwives in a pregnancy

Hiring a midwife can be one option in delivering your baby. This method is usually done at your own homes. And this method is also done naturally.  What we mean by naturally is without the use of drugs.A lot of mothers are now choosing it because they can get a lot of benefits from it.  Some of the benefits include no drugs and a more relaxed environment at home. So we  shall look at the role of a midwife in delivery.

So let us define what a midwife is.A midwife is someone who assists pregnant women during their delivery of their babies.  Usually not a doctor.  But as a San Diego midwife there is many other things that I know a midwife does.Of course, they are not as medically qualified as doctors but there are lots of things that they can do that can help pregnant mothers.

Most of their duties concentrate on assisting the delivery. But they also assist the mothers during their 9 months of pregnancy. Plus they also advice and help post delivery.  So most women who are midwives San Diego have a huge job when it comes to pregnancy and delivery.A lot of pregnant women seek their help and advice.  Although not doctors or nurses sometimes, the women trust them for medical advice.

Of course the biggest job of the midwife is during delivery. This is more evident in a homebirth.Of course, midwives can help in the hospitals. But when it comes to home birthing their responsibility grows larger. As I mentioned earlier as a San Diego midwife although not usually a doctor or nurse they do have training medically. This training will make them be ready for any emergency that might arise during the delivery.

So those are some of the things that a midwife does.  As you can see they have a lot of responsibility. But most midwives have done their jobs well.  They have successfully helped women for many years. And they will help more as the practice become more popular in the years to come.

Using waterbirth to deliver babies

Waterbirthing is one way of giving birth to babies which can be one option for mothers but they don’t usually know. This is the delivery where an expectant mother is placed in a tub filled with water. And then that is where she will deliver the baby. There are many benefits to this method.More women are now considering this method even if it is not a commonly known and popular method of delivering babies.  In this article we are going to examine the benefits of it.

What’s good about this method is that it has a lot of benefits in store for the babies and also the expectant mothers. As a San Diego midwife I have seen it firsthand. For the mother, it soothes the labor pains. It loosens the muscles resulting to an easier delivery. This will lead to having babies in a faster time and less hardship for the mother during the delivery.

Another benefit is the fact that because it soothes the muscles and eases the pain is no drugs. Most of the time, waterbirthing gives the mother the chance to deliver the baby naturally. I have seen it a lot of times while having a waterbirth in San Diego.Women who usually need drugs to be administered to them during delivery do not necessarily have to use drugs in this method of birthing. The relaxation of the muscles and the quick delivery that it results to allows them to withstand the pain. This is good for women who really don’t want any drugs during delivery. This is because they have the fear that drugs used during the delivery will be harmful to the baby’s health.

And the benefits for the baby are as follows. For nine months, the baby has lived in an environmnet filled with water.By delivering babies through water birth reduces the shock that they experience when they are being delivered.  The baby experiences less stress by going into water.  Going through delivery is stressful enough to the baby.  By reducing it a little bit it helps.  And these waterbirths can be performed by most midwives San Diego.  They have the experience of performing these types of deliveries. And as shown it brings a lot of benefits for the mother and the baby as well.

What does a midwife do for pregnancy

When a woman is pregnant there are some choices to be made. She needs to go choose a doctor that suits her needs and wants. They need to find a suitable hospital where they can give birth to their babies. And other important things as well. Most women don’t realize that they also have the choice of opting for a natural delivery. That is the method where drugs are not administered during delivery. As a lot more people become health-conscious this method is gaining popularity.A profession that really helps in this area is called midwifery.

What is midwifery? It is defined as the practice of assisiting pregnant mothers give birth the natural way. Of course there a lot more defintions. But this explains it simply.  As a San Diego midwife that is the job which is to help a woman attempt to deliver naturally. This can give a lot of benefits.  Mainly of course no drug use. And without using drugs the delivery goes faster.Because most drugs administered during the delivery actually slows down the delivery.

Now not only are women attempting to deliver naturally there are some choosing the home. They are opting to stay in their houses to give birth to their babies.  This seems a lot more different then people are used to.But it has lot of benefits in store for the babies and the mothers.  As a homebirth midwife San Diego I have been able to see these benefits firsthand. One benefit that can be gained is the privacy of the place that will be used as the delivery room.  Also less intrusive medical procedures are needed because of the way the delivery is done.

There will definitely be objections and sceptics will not stop looking for something to criticize. Some are doubtful about the safety of ths method. But if the pregnancy is a low-risk one then this method is very safe. But if the pregnancy is a high risk one then it would not definitely be recommended.  In my midwife San Diego practice I always advise my clients to go with the normal delivery in a hospital if it is high risk.  That way any concerns can be taken care of by a doctor.

Midwifery and the wrong things people think about it

Midwifery is a profession that takes care of expectant mothers.  They provide prenatal care as well attend the birth. And they also provide postpartum care.In general midwives are not registered nurses but if they choose to become one then they can be and can do so. But they are regulated and governed.  But where do the misunderstandings come in?

In general, the misunderstandings happen for those that do homebirths.  In my practice of helping women as a San Diego midwife, homebirths are where people get confused.People think that home birthing is an unsafe way of delivering a baby. But for low-risk pregnancy undergoing home birthing is very safe. Also, midwives have some necessary medical equipments at hand in case something serious happens. And since the way they deliver babies is very safe most complications are avoided.

That is where the benefits come in.  As some midwives in San Diego perform their services they do it with a natural delivery.  This is where no medicine is involved to help in labor. No medicine is administered to the mother during birthing. But not using medication to help ease the pain of birthing is a good thing since it makes the delivery happen faster.  Because most women don’t realize medication actually slows down delivery. So by not administering medicine to the mother the delivery would be faster.

Another good thing would be when women deliver using water birth method because this has a lot of benefits for the baby and the mother. From doing waterbirth in San Diego in my practice the water eases the delivery.  The water actually soothes the muscles and allows easer delivery. Plus the shock and stress that the baby undergoes during birthing can be reduced by being released into water.

As you can see there are misunderstanding with midwives. But I’m hoping that you will understand that this method is safe for low-risk pregnancies.  Plus midwives are regulated by a governing body.  So midwives do have to go to extensive schooling. They have some know-how in medical procedures that is needed in birthing. So mothers should not worry about their safety while giving birth since midwives have all the necessary medical equipments for emergency purposes. This can be a viable choice for women with low-riskpregnancies.

Giving birth at home safely

One of the choices women have during pregnancy is how they will deliver. When I say how they will deliver I am referring to a hospital delivery or a homebirth. Most women don’t know that they have a choice on how to deliver their babies because they think that giving birth at their own homes is dangerous. But of course there are those who doubt the safety of this method.  But with careful research they can see there is a lot of evidence to show that it is.

Now the safety of a homebirth has been questioned.  From my observations from my practice as a San Diego midwife I have found it to be absolutely safe. The risks are the same either in a hospital or homebirth as I have witnessed from the 300 homebirths I have assisted in.  Having it in a hospital or at home doesn’t minimize those risks.  But it also doesn’t raise those risks either.

So what would be the main threat of undergoing a procedure like this?  Well for one people worry if some complications occur.  They say the people who administer the homebirth usually aren’t nurses.  Well as a homebirth midwife in San Diego we do know medical procedures. All the necessary equipments for the common complications of a chilbirth are always with us.It is but natural that any serious complications that would arise during birthing should be addressed by a doctor. But that is still similar to what happens in a hospital.

Women who have low risk pregnancies are the only women recommended for homebirths. If it is known that a woman has possible complications while giving birth then the midwife would not recommend this method if she is good.  This is standard procedure for all San Diego licensed midwife. This is standard procedure because they are limited in the medical procedures that they can do.  That is why they do make sure any high risk pregnancies are delivered in a hospital.

For those who do not like this method it will be very hard to convince them to do so.  But for those women who see this as an alternative they should understand it is safe.
