Information Regarding Infertility Stress

Infertility is one of the most stressful situations that any couple must deal with. Even treatments for it can contribute to the stress that the couple goes through. In addition, the irony is that couples that realize that they themselves are stressed can further worsen their infertility thanks to this realization!

But what causes it? What are some of the factors behind infertility stress?

Firstly, it can begin from knowing they are infertile. After having sex for a long time, the couple is unable to have child and they seek medicial attention. One or both could very well end up feeling depressed and inadequate when the specialist diagnosis say it is due to infertility.

Secondly, further stress can be added to the couple who has decided to undergo infertility treatments. Such treatments can prove exceedingly and prohibitively expensive depending on the treatments required.

And the act of going in and out of doctors’ waiting rooms and hospitals, among other places, waiting with bated breath for results, and so on and so forth can also increase a lot of stress to the couple.

Thirdly, the stress can be added from the lovemaking itself. Many couples may not be able to get past the fact that they are unable to bear children normally. This can make things very hard for them because they may have to make recourse to more medical procedures if they are unable to consummate the sexual act.

Also having sex might become unenjoyable. It is no longer about enjoying each other and having a pleasure time. It can become a chore for the couple as they would have to be doing it according to a schedule with the pressure of producing children.

Having to go through fertility treatments can be very demeaning for men. They may feel emasculated and feel that they are responsible if they are unable to produce babies with their wives. It is also extremely embarrassing for them to talk about issue like low sperm count or erectile problems with the doctor or producing sperm in the doctor office.

It is extremely important to consider how the couple responds to such stress in the first place. Some can simply take it in stride and be positive even in the face of potential failure; others can be negative right at the outset even if the future for them might not be so bleak, and immediately contemplate having to adopt children while agonizing over how unfair things seem to be, and so on and so forth. This can result in a drastic lowering of self-esteem for couples and individuals.

As a consequence, infertility can result in many couples being placed under extreme strain. Many couples buckle under this strain, and many of them end up breaking up. Others, though, end up learning from this experience and end up stronger couples even if they are proven completely infertile.

The Signs of Infertility Based on Lisa Olson’s Pregnancy Miracle Book

The Signs of Infertility

How can you tell from the onset that what you are experiencing is infertility, and not just another form of late conception, or wrong timing?

Have you ever considered what the primary signs of infertility in a human being are?

We should be aware of the indications of infertility and that too, as early as possible. Signs of infertility can become apparent in several ways, including instinctive and cultural factors, irregular behavior of individuals while having a sexual union, malnutrition, a depressed mental condition, endocrinology factors, and the current health condition of persons.

The overall general lifestyle, emotional quotients, financial issues as well as time represent pointers to infertility as well. In this context, it is important to distinguish between infertility and impotency. The factors mentioned above can result in infertility in a man or a lady, in case any of the former stops working normally.

In cases where a male has full potency, his female partner can become pregnant during the menstruation cycle of the latter. However, not many are aware that men too have hormonal cycles. What’s more, while the cycle of ladies cover a 28-day period, a fixed tab cannot be put on the male cycle.

Researches show that the quality of the male sperm can go down, not at all matching with his hormone cycle; although he can release sperms whenever he wishes to do so. The lower sperm quality, in turn, has a negative impact on a man’s fertility, and can diminish his ability to impregnate. Signs of infertility, in both men and women, can become more apparent with advancement of their age.

Discourses on the many signs of infertility can often be confusing. Here, we would be discussing these issues in a clearer manner. Fertility of humans is not our focus here. In females, the single most important sign of her being infertile is an irregular pattern of her periods. However, it has to be kept in mind that, while irregular menstrual cycles do indicate infertility, they can also act as signs of other health hazards.

Body Weight

If a lady does not have the ideally correct body weight, her fertility is likely to go down. Infertility can be a problem faced by both overweight as well as grossly underweight women. The fetus needs to be nursed properly during pregnancy. If the hip region of a woman is too narrow, this task becomes difficult, and her ability to conceive babies suffers. The balance of hormones can also receive a jolt in case a proper nutrition-rich diet is not adopted. Obesity can also stand in the way of maintenance of the correct hormone balance. As a result, their ability to reproduce can suffer.

Alcohol Consumption

If a lady is in the habit of drinking too much, she can also become infertile, for a considerable length of time too. Thus, in order to maintain her fertility, alcohol-consumption needs to be eliminated totally. However, this infertility has nothing to do with the barrenness of a lady.

Structural Defects

Doctors point out several other common signs of infertility. For example, if the ovary of a lady is twisted, conceiving a baby becomes very tough for her. For women to become pregnant, the male sperm has to travel through her body and enter her ovary. In case the female ovary is positioned at a wrong position, this procedure is not possible. As a result, for all practical purposes, the lady becomes infertile. Any cysts that are present in the ovary can also prevent a woman from getting pregnant.

The male Partner

On the other hand, guessing which man is infertile is tricky. While a rather weak-looking guy can become a parent whenever he has an intercourse with a lady, an apparently strong, tough person can have an unfavorable rate of mortality and/or a low sperm count. However, in general, the level of fertility goes down as a man becomes more and more obese. Problems in the general health of males and/or his anatomy can also bring down his virility. Fertility falls with the advancing years too.

Andropause (or, the process of menopause in males) results in easy detection of the signs of infertility. The indications of infertility in men include:

(i)         Losing hair on a regular basis,

(ii)       Gaining too much fat in the abdominal parts, and an increase in general body weight,

(iii)      Wrinkles and dryness of the skin,

(iv)      A fall in the male libido levels,

(v)       Excess stress,

(vi)      Problems in having an erection,

(vii)  Too much sweat as well as hot flushes,

(viii) A disturbed and nervous state of mind, with constant bouts of anxiety,

(ix)      An feeling of unwillingness and a marked lack of motivation, and

(x)        A depressed mental state.

Fortunately, these signs of infertility can be eliminated if holistic methods of treatment are adopted. Unlike other conventional treatment methods, holistic approaches aim to detect the actual causes of the problem, and then suggest remedies accordingly. And these treatments also do not have any adverse side effects.

Holistic methods recommend extensive usage of Chinese medicines, herbs and acupuncture. Proper exercises as well as a balanced diet are also prescribed. It has indeed been proven that holistic methods have a much higher success rate in helping people recover their fertility, than other conventional techniques.

Treating Infertility Based on Lisa Olson’s Pregnancy Miracle Book

Treating Infertility Based on Lisa Olson’s Pregnancy Miracle Book

Over two thirds of recorded infertility cases have been treated successfully. Some of the documented methods are summarized below.

Both men and women suffer from infertility caused by various reasons. However, it’s important for both sexes to undergo treatment for this complicated issue.

Various known and unknown factors cause infertility in women. These include diseases like endometriosis, diminished ovarian reserve, ovulation disorders, and low progesterone level. Low sperm count and low sperm motility, STD, injury or chronic diseases, sperm blockage and ageing are some of the reasons men for, which suffer.

Scheduled drugs and systematic treatment can cure most of the above mentioned infertility problems except ageing and chronic diseases, although these treatments are quite expensive and may have harmful side effects. Additional treatment may be required to cure the side effects.

Treatments conducted through IVF or In Vitro Fertilization and ICSI or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection is best among the other methods of infertility treatment. In this technique, the egg cells outside the womb are fertilized by the sperm and then transferred inside. This treatment is suggested when other techniques fail to give results. This technique is a hormonally controlled ovulation progression. In this treatment involves, the ova is removed from the female’s ovaries and helps the sperm to fertilize in a fluid medium. But this is not a normal process at all and involves excavation of the eggs from the ovary, fertilizing them in an outside laboratory and putting them back in the uterus. In the normal process, the human decides to pick the healthiest sperm for reproducing the egg but in the artificial process, the embryologist takes this decision. However, when he fails to pick the healthiest sperm and egg, it may cause the ill health of the child during birth and even later in life.

Some alternative techniques with a holistic approach are fast becoming popular in order to cure the problem of secondary infertility. These techniques are all the more preferred by people as these have less or no side effects at all.

The acupuncture method, for example, especially ear acupuncture or Auricular is very effective in cases where female infertility has been caused by some kind of malfunction of the ovary. The hormonal message that is transferred from brain to ovary is the most beneficial result received from this technique. In accordance to the investigative trials, those women who have received acupuncture treatment for about 30 times within a time period of 3 months have shown good results. Those female who underwent hormonal therapy along with it suffered from side effects.

In the alternative treatment techniques, diet and lifestyle changes are given a lot of importance. Regular intake of such things that contain caffeine like coffee, chocolate, cocoa, green tea (containing caffeine), black tea and colored soft drinks which has harmful effects on conception is discouraged. According to a study, one and a half cup of coffee for a woman who is trying for pregnancy is sure to delay her conception. Thus coffee is a strictly a no-no for patients suffering from infertility.

Diets that include fish contaminated with PCB or Polychlorinated Biphenyls are also believed to be a cause for substantial reduction in the ability to become pregnant. According to one study, women who had more than one meal containing fish contaminated with PCBs (procured from Lake Ontario), developed reduced fecundity within a month.

The best result for the treatment of infertility has been reported through the Chinese medicines, acupuncture and of course, the holistic approach. The holistic approach reaches to the depth of the problem and only then delivers physical, spiritual as well as emotional treatment, rather than only investigating the organs.

On the other side, the conventional approach to the problem of infertility fails to successfully detect and remove the real causes and moreover, causes side effects. The holistic approach suggests a natural remedy and a way of life that can really solve the problem as soon as the real cause is determined.

After Pregnancy with Gestational Diabetes

Your blood sugar will most likely return to normal after delivery. But gestational diabetes is a warning sign that you are at risk for getting diabetes later in life. You’re also more likely to have gestational diabetes with your next pregnancy. But you can take steps to reduce these risks.

Taking Care of Yourself

Even if your blood sugar goes back to normal, you still need to take care of yourself. This will help prevent diabetes later in life.

Keep your weight down. Eating food that is low in fat and sugar can help you control your weight. If you’re overweight, your risk of getting diabetes in 10 to 15 years more than doubles. Keeping your weight down also reduces your risk of having gestational diabetes with your next pregnancy.
Get regular exercise. Exercise helps lower your blood sugar. It can also help you control your weight.
Have your blood sugar checked. Make an appointment to have your blood sugar checked about 6 to 8 weeks after delivery.
Have regular diabetes screenings. Get checked every year, or as often as your healthcare provider advises.
Breastfeeding

Breast milk is the best food for your baby. Breastfeeding may also help lower your blood sugar. Your healthcare provider can show you how to breastfeed. Be sure to eat a good diet and drink extra fluids while you’re breastfeeding.

Planning Future Pregnancies

You need to be sure your blood sugar is back to normal before you get pregnant again. Have your blood sugar checked before you plan your next pregnancy. And remember that it’s possible to get pregnant again soon after delivery. Talk to your healthcare provider about the best method of birth control for you and your partner.

Diabetes, Pregnancy and Fertility

Before insulin was available, most diabetic women were sterile, or, if they became pregnant, aborted. Half of the babies and one-fourth of the mothers died if they went to term. Today, if they are adequately supervised, less than 1 percent of pregnant diabetic women die of diabetes during pregnancy or the puerperium.

Diabetic women do suffer from an increased incidence of preeclampsia, infections, and hydramnios (excessive amniotic fluid). Abnormalities of labour are increased because the babies tend to be unusually large, and congenital abnormalities of the fetus are more common, as is hydramnios; hydramnios is a problem in 25 percent or more of diabetic women [see Pregnancy Miracle Book].

Untreated diabetes is associated with a high incidence of fetal defects, abortion, stillbirths, premature labour, and excessively large babies. Even with diet and insulin, more than 50 percent of the babies delivered by diabetic women weigh over eight pounds at birth. Even though they appear healthy at birth, many of them are not as strong as smaller babies whose mothers are not diabetic. Fetal loss is greater if the mother became diabetic in childhood, if she has been diabetic for a long time, or if she has vascular or kidney disease.

Pregnancy frequently has an adverse effect on diabetes, and diabetes may first become evident during pregnancy. There is a tendency for the carbohydrate metabolism of the diabetic patient to be upset. Most diabetics need more insulin during gestation; a few, for reasons not understood, need less.

The changing condition from day to day makes some diabetics, who have no problem maintaining a balance when they are not pregnant, difficult to treat. Even so, adequate medical supervision can bring most diabetics and their babies safely through pregnancy.

Duration of Pregnancy

There are, as a rule, 266 to 270 days between ovulation and childbirth, with extremes of 250 and 285 days. Physicians usually determine the date of the estimated time for delivery by adding seven days to the first day of the last menstrual period and counting forward nine calendar months; i.e., if the last period began on January 10, the date of delivery is October 17.

Courts of law, in determining the legitimacy of a child, may accept much shorter or much longer periods of gestation as being within the periods of possible duration of a pregnancy. One court in the state of New York has accepted a pregnancy of 355 days as legitimate. British courts have recognized 331 and 346 days as legitimate with the approval of medical consultants. Fully developed infants have been born as early as 221 days after the first day of the mother’s last menstrual period.

Because the exact date of ovulation is usually not known, it is seldom possible to make an accurate estimate of the date of delivery. There is a 5 percent chance that a baby will be born on the exact date estimated from the above rule. There is a 25 percent chance that it will be born within four days before or after the estimated date. There is a 50 percent chance that delivery will occur on the estimated date plus or minus seven days. There is a 95 percent chance that the baby will be born within plus or minus 14 days of the estimated date of delivery.

PCOS and Infertility

March 19, 2010 by

If you are unfortunate enough to be afflicted with PCOS and infertility, you need not lose hope of ever having a baby. It is projected that this medical disorder has an effect on around ten percent of all women who are in the reproductive age. Once you have undergone all the necessary tests to verify that you have PCOS and infertility, your physician will be prescribing a treatment that you will need to follow religiously. However, studies have uncovered quite a few that could be the cause of such. During this time, you will need to take medication to stimulate your ovaries in order to allow your ovaries to release egg cells and allow them to grow and mature. The in vitro fertilization process then commences as the eggs are extracted and sperm cells are introduced to it. The embryos are left to grow in the lab for a few days and then they are put back into the uterus so that they will implant and cause a pregnancy. The reason for this wide statistic is that polycystic ovary syndrome is a complex metabolic syndrome, with multiple factors that can interfere with fertility.

If you have an irregular menstrual cycle, it could be possible that you are having PCOS. But you need to remember that just because you have an irregular menstruation does not automatically mean that you are surely afflicted with it. However, once you have undergone the appropriate tests and have proven that you have it, you need not fret because there are several treatments for PCOS and infertility. However, it has been revealed that all the latest developments in IVF technology have enabled women to have the ability to sustain high pregnancy rates at the same time controlling risk the multiple pregnancies. A variation of the standard IVF treatment that is helpful in controlling multiple birth rates is the Blastocyst embryo transfer. All of these hormones influence each other in one way or another. There are a few other signs and symptoms that you may find in a patient who is afflicted with PCOS and is therefore having infertility issues. This is done through the application of IVF procedures that mix oral contraceptive pills, metformin, and the Lupron down-regulation ovarian stimulation protocol.

The in vitro fertilization procedure for the woman who has PCOS and infertility can be quite an expensive procedure. These injectable medications are generally a form of the FSH hormone which is the major hormone that is produced by the body to inspire the growth of an egg follicle each month.
