Most fertility clinics will provide you with a pregnancy test a couple of weeks after your treatment but if you want to carry out yourself, home tests will also give you a reasonably accurate indication at a couple of weeks. It is essential to not forget that if the test is run too soon after the treatment, the test may indicate a false positive.

If you are uncertain you will find there are other signs of pregnancy for example: feeling sick, using the bathroom more frequently, lack of menstrual cycle, mood shifts, tiredness and finer sense of aromas and taste.

Some clinics continue to stay in touch during the early weeks of pregnancy and perform a few ultrasound scans to be certain your foetus is developing properly. Some fertility clinics that do not carry on with supporting you after their part of the agreement is complete so separate arrangements will have to be made to look after your pregnancy and delivery.

Should you become pregnant it might bring strange feelings particularly if you have been trying for a some time so it might take a little while to adapt to the knowledge you’re having a baby. Accept this as perfectly natural, but the fundamental thing is to learn to live with your emotions whatever they are, and to remember that most mums-to-be go through a mixture of emotions on discovering they are going to have a baby whether they have had fertility treatment or not.

There should not be any real physical difference from someone who is expecting normally to another who has had fertility treatment, although they may find it more emotionally challenging. At times however, it may be essential for them to have extra scans at the hospital. If this happens it could be they have had previous problems with a miscarriage, stillbirth or health problems for instance. Another possible reason could be the mother-to-be’s age because the older you grow the more likely complications may occur.

Since it first began, more than a million infants around the globe have now been born as a result of aided conception treatment such as In Vitro Fertilization and the prospects are you will give bear a healthy baby. That is not to say there won’t be any problems because every medical treatment and every pregnancy have some danger, even those conceived by normal means, but luckily nearly all of the problems are minor. Easier to say than to do, you should try to relax during the pregnancy as much as possible.

Unfortunately the amount of stillbirths that occur after employing IVF is above those for natural conception. Normally, this is the result of only two situations: the first being that almost all women that receive fertility treatment have a pregnancy test quite early in the pregnancy.Alternatively, a woman who becomes pregnant naturally may receive what she thinks is a late period when in fact an embryo has been created, but didn’t to implant. There is also an increased chance of miscarrying when you are mature and women who get fertility treatment are ordinarily older normally than those who conceive by natural means. If you are worried about anything related to this, you should speak to a advisor from your fertility clinic.
